Bike Tool Station

The bike tools station is located in the bike storage area at the bottom of staircases 5&6 of the front quad. It is free to use by any member of the College.

Please be respectful when using the tools and put them back in place once you’re done.

This tool station was installed voluntarily by the MCR so we would really appreciate if you helped keep it in good conditions

If tools are used often, they might get damaged that is totally fine, however:

If you notice any tool missing or damage, please tell a member of the MCR so that we can replace it.

This tool station primarily wants to encourage Queen’s students and staff to understand more about bike and especially how to keep themselves safe while riding their bike. This page will try to give a few pieces of advice and relevant resources on how to do this.

Advice

Safety advice on the road can be found here.
If you use your bike on a daily basis, it is normal that it will get worn out. It is important for your security that you keep your bike in a safe to ride condition. Most basic necessary tools for this can be found on the tool wall. Bike repair advice can be found on the university website.
In short my advice would be to check:

  • Functioning breaks (both front and back)
  • Pumped up tires (check the side of your tire for the recommended pressure)
  • Well fixed/no loose parts (especially handlebar and wheels)

If you don’t know how to fix those but would like to learn how to, I would highly recommend the broken spoke bike coop in Oxford.
