St Aldate's House

Facilities and life in St Aldate's House!

St Aldate's House is one of the graduate buildings owned by The Queen's College, Oxford. It offers shared kitchens and 90 ensuite rooms distributed into three floors. It is usual to find the 2nd and 3rd floor occupied by graduate students, whilst 3rd+ year undergraduates might be allocated on the 1st floor. Another graduate building owned by Queen's College is Oxley-Wright.

St Aldate's House is located on the corner of St Aldate's Street and Speedwell Street, near the St Adate's Police Station and conveniently just above Tesco Express! It is only 5 minutes away from the city centre and one minute from the entrance gate of Christ Church Meadow on foot. Don't get lost, find directions here!

St Aldate’s House

2 Speedwell Street

Alternatively, you can use the Queen's College address as your mail address. As there is no reception in St Aldate’s, this might prevent mail getting lost. The College Porters are able to sign for items sent by special delivery and keep them safely for you!

Three washing machines and three dryers, as well as ironing facilities, are available in the laundrette located on the first floor for St Aldate's residents. Each load of wash costs £1.40, as does a dry (it is more practical to do 2 washes to 1 dry, as the dryers are larger). The machines use a laundry card system – cards can be obtained from the College Bursary (Front Quad 1A), Main College Building, and money can be put on to a card using a machine in the corner of the College's post room (next to the Porters’ Lodge). You will need to provide your own detergent etc.

Parking is not available for residents of St Aldate's House. There is a wide pavement to the right of main front door, and you can park on this fairly easily for unloading purposes.

Bicycle parking facilities are provided within the building to meet the needs of cyclists residents in St Aldate's House.
